AEB: Russian Feb car, LCV sales fall 37.9% to 128,298 vehicles
MOSCOW, Mar 10 (PRIME) -- Sales of cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) fell 37.9% on the year to 128,298 cars in February, the Association of European Businesses’ (AEB) said in a statement Tuesday.
“The market is entering a very difficult phase now, and February is only the beginning. Industry sentiment is the next few months will be extremely difficult, and the market bottom has yet to be found. Good news from the macroeconomic side, such as the recent stabilization of the ruble, raise hopes for an improvement in the longer term,” CEO Joerg Schreiber said, as quoted in the statement.
“Until then however, market participants will need patience and a long breath.”
In January–February, Russia’s car and LCV sales dropped 32.1% to 243,826 units, the agency said.
Sales of Russian major car maker AvtoVAZ fell 23.5% on the year to 23,639 cars in February and went down 24.6% to 41,131 cars in January–February.
